Nkhila Lodge — luxury stargazing camp on the Agafay plateau

Nkhila Lodge is a unique luxury tented wilderness camp on a high plateau in the heart of the Agafay desert, run by the well-established Moroccan Hideaways group (which has been operating premium Moroccan properties since 2007). The lodge is fully solar-powered and faces directly onto the High Atlas Mountains with a distant view of Mount Toubkal.

Nkhila's signature accommodation is its five stargazing tents built on stilts with transparent ceilings — ensuite, private and spaced 15 metres apart, designed specifically for guests to experience the night-time magic of Africa's dark skies. There is also a separate option of comfortable Moroccan-styled caidal tents set in a circle around a campfire. Facilities include a stargazing deck with telescope, a desert cooking school, a Moroccan salon tent, viewpoint canopies, petanque, an outdoor fire pit, free Wi-Fi and free parking.
