Fes Transfer — every private route from and to Fes
A fes transfer with Transfers.ma is a private vehicle, a driver waiting with a name sign, and a price fixed before departure — per vehicle, not per person. This page lists every route we drive from Fes and its airport, and every route that arrives here: Chefchaouen, Merzouga, Volubilis, Rabat, Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakech.
Fes-Saïss Airport (FEZ) is 15 km south of the city: a fes airport transfer to the medina, the Ville Nouvelle or Fes el-Jdid costs 25€ and takes 25 minutes. Longer routes are flat intercity fares: 169€ to Chefchaouen, 213€ to Rabat, 215€ to Tangier, 310€ to Merzouga, 375€ to Marrakech. Same price for a sedan or a 6-seat van, no night surcharge, tolls and fuel included.
Fes el-Bali is the largest car-free urban area in the world. On every fes transfer the driver picks the gate closest to your riad — Bab Boujloud, Bab Rcif or Bab Guissa — and carries your bags to the door. Give us the riad's name when booking; that is what decides the gate.
Every fes transfer includes free cancellation up to 24 h, flight tracking and a price per vehicle, not per person
Fes in three parts — and why it changes your fes transfer
Fes is three cities side by side, and where a fes transfer drops you depends on which one you sleep in. Fes el-Bali, the UNESCO medina, has around nine thousand lanes closed to every vehicle: the car stops at a gate and the rest is on foot. Fes el-Jdid, the Marinid town around the royal palace and the Mellah, can be partly driven. The Ville Nouvelle, built under the protectorate, is boulevards where the car goes to the hotel door.
For a medina riad the choice of gate is not a detail. Bab Boujloud, the blue gate, opens onto the upper medina and Talaa Kebira; Bab Rcif serves the centre and the Karaouiyine mosque; Bab Guissa the north; Bab Ftouh the south-east. Between two wrong gates there are forty minutes of walking with suitcases, uphill.
On every private transfer fes drivers call the riad before leaving and park at the right gate — that is what separates a booked fes transfer from a fes taxi hailed on the kerb.
A practical tip for your fes transfer: send us the exact riad name, not just "Fes medina". Two riads with similar names can sit at opposite gates.
Fes-Saïss Airport — what to know before you land
Fes-Saïss is a single-terminal airport 15 km south of the city on the Sefrou road. Flights come mostly from Europe — Paris, Marseille, Brussels, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, London — and often land in the evening. Once the day's flights are through, the taxi rank empties fast. That is the most concrete argument for a fes airport transfer booked before the flight rather than arranged after landing.
There is no train and no regular shuttle at Fes-Saïss. The ONCF station is in town, 15 km away; bus 16 links the airport to the station for a few dirhams but runs irregularly and stops early. In practice everyone leaves by road: a grand taxi at a price agreed on the spot, a rental desk, or a fes transfer booked with the driver in the arrivals hall.
For a fes transfer to the airport, allow 2 hours before a European flight and 3 before an intercontinental one. We calculate the pickup time from your flight number and confirm it the day before by WhatsApp.
Fes taxi — booked or hailed on the spot?
A fes taxi from the airport rank works: a grand taxi, Mercedes or Dacia, price agreed before you get in, roughly 150 to 200 dirhams to the city depending on the hour and your bargaining. At night, or when the rank is nearly empty, the opening figure climbs. The driver drops you at the medina gate he knows, not necessarily yours, and leaves.
A booked fes transfer costs 25€ — about the same money — and fixes the price, the vehicle and the driver before you leave. You get his name and number on WhatsApp, the car has a real boot, and he knows how close a vehicle can get to your riad. The difference is not the money; it is the twenty minutes of negotiation you skip after a flight, and the certainty that someone is there at 11 p.m.
Honestly: travelling alone, by day, with a backpack, and you like to bargain? The fes taxi rank works fine. Two or more people, luggage, a night landing, or a riad deep in the medina: the private transfer fes option is the one where nothing needs organising when you land.
Fes airport transfer — from Fes-Saïss
Every fes transfer from the airport starts in the arrivals hall: your driver waits there with a sign, tracks your flight for free and takes you to your exact address. A delayed flight changes nothing for you.
Transfer from Fes — to the airport and other cities
A fes transfer from the city means pickup at your riad or hotel, bags carried down to the car. For an airport departure the time is calculated from your flight number.
Transfer to Fes — arriving from another city
Simple rule for every fes transfer: the outbound price is the return price. Rabat → Fes costs the same as Fes → Rabat. Drop-off at the medina gate closest to your riad.
Fes airport transfer to your riad or hotel
The same 25€ fes airport transfer, with the gate already worked out for these addresses. Do not see yours? Any riad or hotel in Fes is the same price.
Fes to Chefchaouen transfer — the most requested route
The fes to chefchaouen transfer is, by far, the most booked trip out of Fes after the airport. 200 km, about 3h30, via Ouezzane and then the climb into the Rif. The blue city has no train; the CTM bus takes 4 hours and drops you at the bus station at the bottom of town, from where you still climb to the medina.
A private fes to chefchaouen transfer drops you at Bab el-Ain or the gate nearest your guesthouse, for 169€ per vehicle — 42€ each for four.
The return fes transfer is the same price, and many travellers chain the two: Chefchaouen → Fes Airport (169€, timed on the flight) or Chefchaouen → Tangier (89€) to leave via the north. The way back has its own difficulty: everyone underestimates the descent out of the Rif by an hour, drivers included when they do not know it. Ours do it every week.
Fes transfer prices 2026 — the grid
The price of a fes transfer depends on distance. Short trips (airport, Fes, Volubilis) are calculated to your exact address. Long routes have a fixed fare.
| Distance from Fes | Example | Price per vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| 0 – 20 km | Fes-Saïss Airport, every district of Fes | 25€ |
| 20 – 30 km | Outskirts, Sefrou | 39€ |
| 50 – 60 km | Meknes | 79€ |
| 60 – 70 km | Ifrane | 99€ |
| 70 – 80 km | Volubilis | 119€ |
| Flat fare | Chefchaouen | 169€ |
| Flat fare | Rabat · Tangier · Casablanca | 213€ · 215€ · 233€ |
| Flat fare | Merzouga · Marrakech | 310€ · 375€ |
Every fes transfer is priced per vehicle (1–3 passengers in a sedan, up to 6 in a van), tolls and fuel included, no night surcharge.

When the private car is worth it — and when the train is better
We say it plainly, before selling you a fes transfer: for Rabat, Casablanca or Tangier, the ONCF train from Fes station is excellent — frequent, comfortable, cheap. Travelling alone with a bag? Take it. A private transfer fes ride earns its place differently: two or more people splitting the fare, suitcases to get out of a medina riad, an early flight, or a destination the train does not reach.
And that is half the fes transfer routes on this page. Meknes has a station, but Fes Airport does not. Ifrane, Volubilis, Chefchaouen and Merzouga have no station at all: every public version ends in a coach and then a shared grand taxi. On those routes a private car is not a comfort, it is the only door-to-door option.
Booking a fes transfer — how it works
Payment for a fes transfer: 30% deposit online, the balance in cash to the driver (euros or dirhams). Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup; changing the time costs nothing.
When to book, and what changes with the season
A fes transfer can be booked up to the evening before for most of the year. Two exceptions. Between Christmas and New Year, and during the Easter holidays, Fes-Saïss handles twice its usual flights and cars are allocated days ahead — book as soon as you have your ticket. During Ramadan the medina is quiet in the afternoon and packed after sunset; a pickup between 7 and 9 p.m. can take ten minutes longer to reach the gate.
Season matters on the long routes too. The fes transfer to Merzouga crosses the Zad pass above 2,000 m: in January and February it can snow and the driver chooses his departure time accordingly. Chefchaouen has no such issue, but on summer weekends the Rif road fills up after 4 p.m. The Fes → Marrakech run through the Middle Atlas is at its best in spring, when the Azrou cedar forest is still green.
